In the frenzy of trying to attract and keep
loyal customers to drive up profit, businesses naturally expend a lot of energy
and resources towards their marketing activities. However, many companies do
not put nearly enough effort into what should be the core of their business:
their brand.
Your brand represents your identity: your
values, characteristics, reputation, what you do, why you exist, and so much
more. Your brand is who you are. Seeing your logo or brand name will conjure up
this identity, thus instantly informing your target market of your reputation
when it comes to the quality and trustworthiness of your product or services.
Marketing and branding are often confused
with each other, and while they are interconnected, branding exists on a deeper
level than any sales or marketing efforts by a company. Marketing is how you
sell what you have to offer, while your brand is how you get the trust and continued
loyalty of your customers.
